Moss & Adams' Heart Disease in Infants, Children, & Adolescents 7th Edition (Lippincott Williams & Wilkins) 2008

This 7th edition of Moss and Adam's Heart Disease in Infants, Children, and Adolescents represents a major revision of the 6th edition, undertaken in response to our ever-advancing discipline, to comments from readers of the 6th edition, and to reviews of the 6th edition especially the very thoughtful and considered suggestions offered by Drs. Welton Gersony and David Sahn.
Genetic information regarding congenital heart disease is rapidly expanding. The authors have tried to include basic genetic information and as much new information as possible. The reader should understand that these ongoing data advance rapidly and will continue to progress.

New sections and chapters in the text include:
  • An ICU section with chapters on neonatal care, cardiac intensive care, mechanical support, and interactions between the ventricles as well as cardiopulmonary interactions.
  • An expanded young adult section with attention to the natural history, therapeutic catheterization information specific to this population, cardiac imaging techniques specific to the young adult, lesion-based management pathways, and challenges for the future.
  • Congestive heart failure, a chapter that was dropped from the 6th edition and which is clearly needed.
  • Sports screening and participation, an issue that we all face daily.
  • The heart in muscular dystrophy, an increasingly important topic as newer therapies emerge.
  • Ischemia, a topic that is increasingly important to pediatric cardiologists.
Updated information is provided on genetics and epidemiology in every lesion-specific chapter. Some chapters and appendices have been deleted because of the electronic availability of up-to-date information on such topics as drug preparations, doses, and side effects.
